With all the recent noise around looking at Finland’s future alternatives, I am surprised that nobody has come up with the challenge to create a Finnish contender to Google, Bing or Alibaba.
I feel hopelessly depressed every time I am searching for something and have to turn to one of the three big search engines, only to be confronted with useless links and commercials.
I would love to see the Finnish government and private industry sponsor a competition for such a search engine that had the decency to be more useful and less intimidating for the global population.
Just think about the potential goodwill that an honest search engine would generate.
Such a competition could be based on open source code utilizing young and old IT experts working together on a virtual network.
Of course it would be called SISU because you will need plenty – it will not be an easy task.
A Challenge to Create an Honestly Good Search Engine from Finland
